#7 Clippers Secure Spot in CACC Championship Match After 5-0 Win Over USciences

Bronxville, NY – The seventh-ranked Concordia College Clippers men's tennis team faced off against the University of the Sciences in the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Semi Finals match this afternoon. The Clippers won 5-0 to secure a spot in the CACC Championship match for the third consecutive season.

The Clippers would jump out to an early 3-0 lead after they securing doubles victories. Daniele Piludu (Cagliari, Italy) and Geza Bazula (Budapest, Hungary) won their #1 doubles match 8-1 as did the #3 doubles duo of Ricardo Frey (Curitiba, Brazil) and Dane Ostilly (Westport, CT). David Tisserand (Lyon, France) and Andreas Lindell (Helsingborg, Sweden) followed shortly thereafter with an 8-4 victory at #2 doubles as Concordia looked to shutout the Devils.

In singles play Piludu, the twentieth-ranked player in the nation, won his #1 match 6-0, 6-1 to give the Clippers a 4-0 overall lead. Lindell ended the match with his 6-1, 6-1 victory at #4 singles as Concordia earned a spot in the championship match. At the time Lindell won his match, Tisserand was in the middle of his #2 singles match in which he took the first set 6-2 and was tied 3-3 in the second set.

Concordia will now face Philadelphia University tomorrow afternoon as the Rams defeated Chestnut Hill 5-2 in the other CACC Semi Finals match today. The championship match will take place at 12pm at the Meyers Tennis Center on the campus of Concordia College.
