Clippers Get Shut Out Win over Devils, 3-0

Bronxville, NY – The Concordia College Clippers women's volleyball team hosted Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent the University of the Sciences this evening. Concordia was celebrating their yearly Homecoming today and the team did not disappoint as they won in straight sets, 3-0.

Both teams started the first set looking to gain the upper edge. When the score was 9-9, the Clippers went on a 7-1 run to gain an edge on the Devils. They were able to keep a manageable lead until USciences went on an 8-4 run of their own to close the gap to only two. A quick timeout by Concordia to settle their nerves allowed them to secure the set, 25-22.

In the second set, the Clippers jumped out to another lead, building the score to 19-12. The Devils would attempt another rally as they went on a 6-2 run late in the set. Concordia managed to hold on to their lead and took the game, 25-20.

After being down early, the Clippers went on a 10-2 run in the third set which prompted the Devils to eventually call a timeout. With momentum and the home crowd on their side, Concordia battled their way to a 25-23 set victory to secure their third win of the season.

Junior Juliann Gillespie (Clarkston, MI) led the Clippers' offense with 10 kills while senior Amanda Margedant (La Habra Heights, CA) added seven kills. Junior Courtney Hanson (Bellerose, NY) and sophomore Hillary Hoffman (East Meadow, NY) both recorded seven digs on the defensive end for Concordia.

The Clippers (3-16, 3-10 CACC) will host Bloomfield College this Tuesday, October 18th. The 6pm match take place in the Meyer Athletic Center on the campus of Concordia College.
