
Two Clippers from the Women's tennis team and three from the men's tennis team were honored by the ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) with East Region Awards.
From the Women's Tennis team, Cristina Oliveira was named as they
East Region Women's Senior Player of the Year. Cristina is
13-0 in singles and 14-1 in doubles for the 2009-2010 season.
Cristina was also named CACC Player of the Year in the teams
inaugural season with the conference. Cristina has helped
lead the team through the confernce on their way to their first
CACC Championship and now the team heads back to the NCAA Sweet 16.
Kylene Murray, the Women's Tennis Team Assistant Coach, has been named as the East Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year. Murray, has been the assistant for the women's team for many years now and also was a former player at Concordia.
On the men's side, Andreas Lindell, was named the East Region Male
Rookie of the Year. With an 18-2 singles record and a 21-4
doubles record, Lindell certainly left a mark on the court.
Known to be quick on the court, Lindell has earned 4 CACC Rookie of
the Week and has helped lead the team through the CACC as they went
undefeated in the conference collecting their first CACC
Championship. Lindell continues to play well as the team
heads back to the NCAA Sweet 16 on their quest for a National
Championship.
Alex Grubin was
named as the East Region Senior Player of the Year. Alex is
currently 13-3 in singles and 20-1 in doubles as he leads the team
back to the NCAA Tournament. Alex has collected other
ITA awards as he was named the Player to watch in his freshman
year. Alex is also ranked as the #1 Player in the Region and
is one half of the #1 doubles team in the region as well.
Lastly, Dan Rockhill was named as the East Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year. Rockhill, the assistant for the men's team, as been in that position for 11 years now and has earned this award several times. Rockhill not only is a coach but is also a former player for Concordia.
