Bronxville, N.Y. – The Clippers men's soccer team played in their final regular season home game on Saturday afternoon against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Holy Family University. Early goals by the Tigers proved to be too much for Concordia to overcome as the Clippers fell 3-1 at Holtdorf Soccer Field.
Holy Family would net their first goal of the game in the eighth minute as a throw-in flew into the box and was headed past Concordia goalkeeper Ruel Gordon (Savanna La Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica). The Tigers added another goal in the 22nd minute as they took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
A third goal was scored by Holy Family in the 56th minute as the Clippers were unable to find the back of the net. A penalty kick opportunity in the 72nd for Concordia's Victor Ruiz (Gijon, Spain) would cut the deficit to two goals but it was too little too late as the Tigers held on for their seventh victory of the season. Gordon recorded five saves for the Clippers as the team was out shot 18-14.
Concordia (5-7-1, 3-5-1 CACC) will be on the road for their next game. The Clippers will take on Bloomfield College on Tuesday night at Foley Field as kickoff is set for 7pm.
