BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released its final Division II National Polls of the 2018-19 season this week, with the Concordia College New York men's tennis team ending the year ranked 26th in the National Team Poll while sophomore Michele Fenoaltea (Rome, Italy) concluded the campaigned nationally ranked.
Concordia went 1-1 since the last installment of rankings from the ITA, besting Chestnut Hill College 4-0 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) East Region #1 Finals on Sunday, May 12 before falling in the Round of 16 to 13th-ranked Southwest Baptist University 4-1 on Tuesday, May 21. Concordia ends the year with an 18-4 overall record and 1-2 mark against teams nationally ranked, defeating No. 47 Grand Valley State University 4-3 on Mar. 7 while falling against No. 7 Flagler 4-3 on Mar. 8 and Southwest Baptist.
In the National Singles Poll, Fenoaltea ended the 2018-19 campaign as the 68th-ranked individual. The CACC All-Conference First Team honoree ends the season with a 21-2 overall record, clinching the Clippers' Round of 16 ticket behind a 7-6 (7-2) 6-3 triumph over Chestnut Hill's Antoine Gautier at the third position in the NCAA East Region #1 Finals. In Concordia's Round of 16 match against Southwest Baptist, Fenoaltea's bout against No. 31 Gyory Agoston was left unfinished. Fenoaltea spent the entire 2018-19 season nationally-ranked in both singles and doubles after winning the ITA East Regional singles title and doubles crown with senior Eymeric Chevalier (Bordeaux, France) in the fall and finishing seventh at the ITA Cup.
