NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) announced its Women's Basketball weekly honors on Tuesday morning, with Concordia College New York junior guard Nicole Nicholson (Staten Island, N.Y.) being named the Division II-III Player of the Week.
Nicholson led the Clippers to a 2-0 week behind 19.5 points on a .538 field goal percentage (14-26), including a 22-point outing on 7-10 shooting from the field that propelled the Clippers to a pair of program records on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Felician. On the defensive end, the 5-6 guard boasted five steals in both victories.
For the season, Nicholson is averaging 11.3 points with a 2.6 steals per game rate that sits second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC).
It is Nicholson's second recognition this week, garnering CACC Co-Player of the Week honors from the league office on Monday.
Nicholson's Player of the Week accolade is the first weekly nod from the MBWA in program history and the first distinction since Krystina Agard was named All-Met Second Team in the 2012-13 season.
