Easton, Mass. – Concordia opened up their 2012 schedule on the road at Stonehill College Saturday afternoon. The Skyhawks grabbed an early 1-0 lead and never looked back as they took the win, 4-0.
Stonehill scored their first goal in the ninth minute of play after the Skyhawks gathered a loose ball and took a low shot for the game's opening goal. Two minutes later Stonehill added a second goal off a header in the box got pass Clippers' goalkeeper Johana Vargas (Queens, N.Y.). Concordia was unable to get a shot off in the half while the Skyhawks took 17 shots and held a 2-0 advantage on the scoreboard after 45 minutes of play.
The second half would be controlled by Stonehill as the team scored two more goals in a span of less than 10 minutes to lead 4-0. The Clippers' offense continued to struggle as only one shot was recorded in the half. Vargas ended the game with 13 saves in her first collegiate game.
Concordia (0-1-0, 0-0-0 CACC) will next open up their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Thursday, September 6th on the road at Felician. Kickoff will take place at 4pm in Rutherford, N.J.
