Women’s Tennis Blanks Caldwell, 7-0

CALDWELL, N.J. – Freshmen Ebba Rosberg (Stockholm, Sweden) and Paula Palero (Culelra, Spain) both posted 6-0, 6-0 victories in singles play on Tuesday afternoon at Caldwell University, leading the Concordia College New York women's tennis team to its fourth-straight 7-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory.

• Concordia improves to 5-0, 4-0 in CACC play.

• Caldwell falls to 0-4, 0-4 in league action.

• Juniors Angelica Karlsson Hantzis (Fuengirola, Malaga, Spain) and Josefina Torres Martin (Miami, Fla.) outlasted the Cougars top pairing of Janis Jimenez and Anne Llardi, 6-1.

• Rosberg and Palero  defeated Kiana Wiggins and Lauryn Schwint at the second position, 6-2

• Junior Ann Kathrin Wirlitsch (Dresden, Germany) and freshman Alexandra Dumitrescu (Spring, Texas) earned a win by default at the third flight.

• Recently-named CACC Rookie of the Week Rosberg blanked Jimenez at the top singles position, 6-0, 6-0.

• Palero won a pair of 6-0 sets against Llardi at the third flight.

• Torres Martin bested Wiggins at the second slot, 6-0, 6-2

• Wirlitsch won her opening frame against Schwint on court four 6-0 before taking the second 6-1.

• Dumitrescu swept Hurlbut 6-1 6-1 at the fifth slot.

• Junior Katrina Sta Cruz (Las Vegas, Nev.) won on court six by default..

The women's tennis team dips out of conference play to take on the University of New Haven on Thursday, Oct. 3 with first serve scheduled for 3 p.m.
